What's a Girl to do with a Cold?

Unfortunately, my plan to get over my cold without missing a day of classes has failed, glueing me to my home and very comfortable sweatpants. But, what is a girl with a cold to do? Make cupcakes, of course! This morning I noticed a post on Fashionista about a new cupcake blog called Ming Makes Cupcakes. Let me just put it out there- I am not one to just stick in bed all day, and when someone mentions cupcakes, I jump at any opportunity to make them- no matter how "crumby" (get it, it's a pun) I feel. Being the complete chocolate lover that I am, I made a chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting. I have concluded that Ming Makes Cupcakes is most definitely a "blog-worthy post" because it is really accessible and easy, not to mention, delicious and beautiful! (What a bunch of adjectives!)

Zara May 2010 Lookbook

Each time that I view a new Zara lookbook, I am even more amazed and surprised than the last time! It seems as if each month, the height of high fashion increases! What first caught my eye was the Miu-Miu-esque romper with the cats on it- not only because it has CATS, but also because its very close resemblance to the cats of Miu-Miu's Spring 2010 collection. I also love the clogs (!) and the very light, delicate feel of the dresses and skirts. But, who am I to judge? Something that I have learned from experience is that one person's views are not always your views. It goes along the lines with the very wise saying "beauty is in the eye of the beholder." I understand that I am writing a blog, and a fashion blog is mostly used to project an opinion, but Shine Through is not meant to do so. My vision of Shine Through Blog is to inform and inspire my readers, so that they create their own style and opinion. Thus, I hope my blog provides the necessary tools for us "fashionloversonabudget" (Yes, I have created my own word) to shop affordably but incredibly fashionably and up to date. ANYWAYS, I am now DONE with my ramblings.

Below, is the Zara May 2010 collection.

P.S. Can you guess which look is "inspired" by Miu Miu 2010?

Fabulous news for all of you "fashionista brides on a budget-" Vera Wang will be designing wedding collections especially for David's Bridal! Debuting next Spring, the collection of 20 wedding dresses will range in price from about $600 to $1,500- thousands of dollars less than wedding dresses made for Vera Wang's main collection. Funny Story...

Photos: Refinery 29
SO. First of all, I am so very sorry about my "lack of blogging" lately. I feel as if almost every post recently has began with an apology, but my inability to frequently update Shine Through is a bit infuriating, even to me! Funny Story... So, I had the extreme pleasure of visiting the Coachella Music Festival this past weekend in Coachella Valley, California. I listened to more bands than I have ever heard and bumped into more strangers than I would like to have. I don't know if it was the hot weather or the sunlight in my eyes, but everyone seemed to look really beautiful and had very "cool" and innovative outfits on. Unfortunately, I left my camera at home knowing that I would buy a throwaway camera because it was easy to carry. To cut the story short, I bought an extremely cheap camera from a mall, took 25 photos of very stylish people, and that was the end of that story. When I tried to get the photos developed, I was told that there was only one photo captured on the camera. Here's the moral of the story: Don't buy cheap cameras! Because of this slight misfortune, I return from an eye opening and interesting adventure empty handed! To compensate these photos, I have gathered a few really great (In my own humble opinion) slideshows of outfits (from different blogs) from the concert. Hopefully these will give you an idea about what I saw and possibly spark your imagination for festivals in the future!

P.S.

Memorable things that I saw:

1) Men wearing Chanel Tatoos
2) Women wearing Chanel Tatoos
3) Cool T-shirts with Cats
4)A LOT of black bandeau tops with ripped jean shorts, white high-tops, and Rayban sunglasses (Here's some advice: while cute, this is VERY common!)
5)Alexander Wang Sunglasses (Yes, they are as cute in real life as they are in photos!
6) Long and colorful dresses
7)People who could pull off wearing shorts
8) Alexa Chung (Hi Rachel)
9) Super short shorts with long blazers and sky high boot/heals
10) Lots of patterns (like those of Proenza Schoulers Spring 2010 collection)
12) Big jewelry, statement pieces, many rings worn on one hand
13) Sand colored Hats
14) sparkles
15) White dresses with gold jewelry
16) My mother dancing to "Major Lazer" (Just imagine your mother dancing to electronic music at Coachella)
